Poem – London, Ohio, (or, America as Seen By Someone Who’s Never Been There)

Cresting oceans of corn
As Moses, parting seas
Dawn is not quite born
And the radio rants on about conspiracies.
Coasting beneath stars
Floating, dead-straight
Maybe half-way to Mars
Or just another state.
Perhaps it’s all dreamy airness
Stuck in the same misty field
Until a landmark shows progress
A billboard that reads ‘HELL IS REAL’.
