Poem – Lament to Perseus

Resent not the hawthorn in bloom
For growing from litter and soil
Nor Autumn’s fiery maple
When the Zephyr blows her bare

Florets bloom the brightest
On the shaded places of graves
Where tender roots burrow
Around bones and worms

As petal is not without thorn
Silk rose is not without craft
